Ghanaian music star Kidi reveals how he deals with sensational media headlines

Renowned Ghanaian musician Kidi recently opened up about how he has developed a thick skin when it comes to handling sensational media headlines.

The talented singer and songwriter, who has been in the music industry for close to a decade, shared his journey towards personal growth and media awareness during an interview on The Chat hosted by Ekow Koomson on Channel One TV.

Recalling his early days in the industry, Kidi admitted that he used to struggle with the way the media portrayed him, especially when headlines seemed exaggerated or taken out of context to create controversy.

However, as time passed, he came to understand the workings of the media, particularly in the entertainment sector where buzz and virality often take precedence over accuracy and depth.

“When I see sensationalized headlines, I just laugh now. Initially, when I started in music, I had issues with those headlines. But I’ve learned that something new will come along tomorrow, and people will move on from it,” Kidi shared during the interview.

The artist’s comments were prompted by a reference to a significant incident in 2021 when he was nominated for the prestigious Artiste of the Year award at the Vodafone Ghana Music Awards (VGMA).

Despite the anticipation surrounding his nomination, the award ultimately went to gospel singer Diana Hamilton, leading to a wave of speculation and controversial headlines.

Media reports at the time suggested that Kidi had angrily stormed out of the auditorium after the loss, sparking debates among fans and pundits. However, Kidi’s mature response to the situation reflects his growth and resilience in the face of media scrutiny.

Kidi’s story serves as a reminder that navigating the world of fame and media attention requires a balance of self-awareness and understanding of the industry’s dynamics.
