The Musicians Union of Ghana (MUSIGA) is gearing up to celebrate its Golden Jubilee in 2025. The announcement was made by the President of MUSIGA, Bessa Simons, at a launch event held on November 7, 2024, at the Accra Tourist Information Centre.
A series of exciting activities have been lined up for the celebration, including concerts featuring both local and international artists, lectures, symposiums, and a dinner gala. One unique highlight of the event will be an all-women festival, with female musicians from around the world being invited to participate.
“We are inviting female musicians from all over the world to join us for this festival,” said Bessa Simons. “It is self-sponsored for those coming from outside, and we are expecting a diverse range of women to come to Ghana and showcase their talents on stage.”
In addition to the festival, there are plans to host outdoor and indoor performances, church programs, and collaborations with renowned international artists like Cece Winans.
The aim is to foster harmony and collaboration between Ghanaian artists and their counterparts from around the world by the end of the celebration.
MUSIGA, founded on December 9, 1975, has been instrumental in advocating for musicians’ rights, advancing the music industry, and preserving Ghana’s rich musical history.
