Judith Oluwole Kuwornu, the Country Director for the Africa Movie Academy Awards (AMAA) in Ghana, has responded to a video by actress Gloria Sarfo, where she criticized the organisers of the awards for the challenges faced by some Ghanaian filmmakers with their flight tickets while traveling to Nigeria for the event.

In an interview with Hitz FM’s Daybreak Hitz, Judith expressed her regret over the unfortunate incident and mentioned that she had already reached out to Gloria Sarfo with an apology. She also emphasized that despite the challenges faced, some members of the team stranded at the airport had shown understanding and support for the situation.

Responding to the criticisms, Judith pointed out that there are certain challenges that are beyond their control as an organization, especially when it comes to transportation arrangements. She assured that the organisers would issue a communique to address the issue and clarify any misunderstandings.

Gloria Sarfo, in a social media video on Sunday, November 3, 2024, vented her frustration over the flight issues that hindered Ghanaian filmmakers from attending the 20th edition of the AMAA in Lagos, Nigeria. She highlighted that the tickets provided by the organisers did not grant them access to board the flight, leading to a situation where a significant number of the Ghanaian team could not make it to the event.

Despite the challenges, Ghanaian actress Jackie Appiah emerged victorious at the AMAA, winning the Best Actress in Lead Role for the movie ‘Red Carpet’, while Harry Bentil received the Best Debut feature film by Director award for the movie ‘Letters to Goddo.’
