Ziavi exhibits indigenous culture as it laid to rest Paramount Queen Mother, Mamagã Mawuedi II

The Ziavi Traditional Area in the Ho Municipality of the Volta Region bid farewell to their beloved Paramount Queen Mother, Mamagã Mawuedi II, during the one-week final funeral rites that took place over the weekend.

Mamagã Mawuedi II, also known as Edith Yohebeth Agbagba, was chosen from suitors of the Akpevi Paramount Royal Clan and crowned as the Paramount Queen Mother of Ziavi Traditional Area in 2005.

During her 19-year reign, Mamagã Mawuedi II brought about significant changes in chieftaincy affairs and community leadership within her jurisdiction. She was a loving and selfless mother to her four children, who fondly remember her as a disciplinarian and a pillar of support in their lives.

The Akpevi Paramount Royal Clan praised Mamagã Mawuedi II for her philanthropic nature, down-to-earth personality, and ability to resolve marital disputes with wisdom and compassion. She was hailed as a pivotal figure in her family and the Royal Clan.

The Ziavi Traditional Council expressed profound sorrow over the loss of Mamagã Mawuedi II, acknowledging her crucial role in establishing the Council and advocating for female issues in the traditional area.

The Volta Region Queen Mothers Association also commended Mamagã Mawuedi II for her active participation and dedication to the association’s activities since she joined in 2018.

The Queen Mothers of the Ziavi Traditional Area highlighted Mamagã Mawuedi II’s organizational skills and commitment to improving the welfare of women in the community. They fondly remembered her wise counsel during meetings and her initiatives to address the health and welfare needs of women in the area.

Mamagã Mawuedi II’s passing has left a significant void in the Ziavi Traditional Area, as she was known for her compassion, wisdom, and unwavering dedication to her people.
