AfroStepz Dance Academy wins Praise Dance Battle 2024

The 10th Ghana Dance Festival featured an electrifying Praise Dance Concert on Saturday, October 12, 2024.

The event, held at PIWC Atomic in collaboration with the PIWC Ministry to Celebrities, showcased talented dance ministries vying for the top spot.

AfroStepz Dance Academy emerged victorious, beating out tough competition from Dance 360, Flames Dance Company, CDS, Shepherds, KTwins Gh, and Pawers Nation.

The audience was captivated throughout the three-round competition, where dance ministers gave their all in each performance.

In round one, dance ministers showcased their skills to their own mix paired with a Scott Evans song.

The top 5 performers in this round were AfroStepz Dance Academy, Dance 360, Flames Dance Company, Shepherds, and CDS. Round two challenged the dancers to convey messages through Dance Drama, incorporating themes from biblical stories and unity and love over division.

Flames Dance Company claimed the 3rd position after the second round, with a prize of 1000 cedis. AfroStepz and Dance 360 advanced to the final round, where they faced off in a battle of Afropop and hip-hop dances.

The intense competition ended in a tie, requiring a second face-off to determine the winners. Ultimately, AfroStepz emerged as 1st place winners, receiving 4000 cedis, with Dance 360 securing the 2nd place prize of 2000 cedis.

CEO of the Ghana Dance Festival, Robert Klah, expressed his satisfaction with the event, emphasizing the diverse expressions of dance in the gospel fraternity. The festival aimed to bring praise dance back to the church and provide a platform for dancers to worship and serve God through their talent.

The event also featured a panel discussion on collaboration between dancers and urban gospel singers.

Urban gospel artists Scott Evans, Kobby Salm, and Kingz Kid highlighted the importance of working together for the mutual growth and promotion of gospel music. The session concluded with a commitment to cooperation toward achieving kingdom objectives.

Various dance ministries and musical acts such as Let’s Dance Africa, Tema Dance Academy, and Royal Vessel Incorporated contributed to the vibrant atmosphere of the event.

The Praise Dance Concert was made possible by collaborations with DanceSport Ghana, DDASPAG, PIWC’s Ministry to Celebrities, and Dancetera.
