Exciting news in the music industry as Blakk Rasta’s album “Salaga Soljah” has been submitted for consideration at the 67th Annual Grammy Awards. This album is the only African reggae album among the seventy-five eligible albums received for the ‘Best Reggae Album’ category.

Among other notable artists who have submitted their works for consideration are Vybz Kartel with “Party With Me,” The Wailers with “Evolution,” and UB40 with “UB45.”

The category, according to the Recording Academy, recognizes excellence in reggae music, including roots reggae, dancehall, and ska music.

In order to be nominated, albums must contain over 75% playing time of new reggae recordings, and featured artists, producers, and engineers must have contributed more than 50% of the project’s playing time.

Blakk Rasta is hopeful that a nomination and possible win for an African reggae album will showcase the impact and relevance of reggae music in Africa.

The “Salaga Soljah” album features twenty tracks sung in English, French, and various African languages such as Dioula, Dagbani, and Akan. International artists like Anthony B, Tiken Jah Fakoly, and King Ayisoba are also featured on the album.
