The third edition of Osagyefo’s Night concert took place at the Alliance Française on October 4, 2024, showcasing the enduring influence of Kwame Nkrumah on Ghana’s music, arts, and theatre scene.
The event drew a full house of enthusiastic attendees, including diplomats from the Southern African Development Community (SADC), who were treated to a spectacular 3-hour performance by Trigmatic.
The artist performed a total of 21 songs, blending old classics like ‘My Life’ and ‘Wo Sika Nti’ with new hits featuring South African acts like Mthunzi, Epic Minds, and Ralf Gum.
Trigmatic’s opening set was a powerful commentary on the current socio-political climate in Ghana, touching on issues like illegal mining and the call for accountability and freedom.
The performance not only entertained the audience but also resonated deeply with fans and Nkrumah enthusiasts.
The night featured a lineup of talented artists including Epixode, Aka Blay, Ayisi, and Nana Asaase, with Josh Blakk delivering an electrifying opening act.
The Abibigroma Theatre Company brought Trigmatic’s songs to life through captivating cultural dance performances.
Reflecting on Nkrumah’s vision, H.E Kufa Chinoza, the ambassador of Zimbabwe, and South Africa’s High Commissioner, HE Grace Jeanet Mason, delivered poignant speeches on Nkrumah’s pan-African vision and the role of the arts in unifying Africa.
Nana Asaase, who served as both a performer and MC, highlighted Nkrumah’s impact on Highlife music and its rise alongside legends like ET Mensah and EK Nyame. The collaborations and performances of the evening underscored music as a force for unity across the continent.
