Annual Conference of the Performing Arts held at National Theatre

The National Theatre hosted its Annual Conference of the Performing Arts on Wednesday, October 2, 2024.

This year’s theme was “We Have Value: Building Bridges to Success”, and the event brought together key players in the creative arts industry. It served as a platform for creatives to brainstorm solutions for the growth of the Ghanaian creative sector.

Deputy Minister of Tourism, Arts, and Culture, Mark Okraku Mantey, delivered the keynote address at the conference.

He emphasized the importance of a vibrant performing arts industry in enhancing the cultural landscape and highlighted the need for public policies to support and nurture this sector.

Mantey also advocated for increased investment in creative infrastructure, improved funding and financing, and a robust policy framework to protect intellectual property rights.

Among the attendees were notable figures in the industry such as Ghallywood actor Adjetey Anang, Abeiku Seigo, Apiorkor Seyram, Artistic Director of GH Dance Company Stephanie Yamoah, and Nana Fredua Agyemang Ofori Atta, the Board Chair of the National Theatre of Ghana.

The conference concluded with the announcement of a “Night of Gratitude” event scheduled to take place on Thursday. This event aims to celebrate and appreciate the contributions of individuals and organizations to the performing arts industry in Ghana.
