Disgraced Hollywood producer Harvey Weinstein has entered a plea of not guilty in a New York court for committing a criminal sexual act.

The 72-year-old is facing an additional charge related to an alleged sexual assault of a woman at a Manhattan hotel back in 2006.

Weinstein, who appeared in court in a wheelchair wearing a dark suit and blue tie, vehemently denied the charges when asked to enter his plea. District Attorney Alvin L.

Bragg commented on the case, thanking the survivor who bravely came forward, leading to Weinstein being indicted for another alleged violent sexual assault.

This new charge comes as Weinstein awaits retrial following the overturning of his rape conviction and 23-year sentence earlier this year. The conviction was thrown out due to concerns about the fairness of the trial process.

Weinstein, who has consistently denied any non-consensual sexual encounters, is currently serving a 16-year sentence for the 2013 rape of an actress in Los Angeles.

He has been dealing with multiple health issues and recently underwent emergency heart surgery.

Prosecutors are seeking to consolidate the new charge with the pending retrial, with a judge set to rule on the matter in early October.
