As the 2024 general election in Ghana approaches, both the National Democratic Congress (NDC) and the New Patriotic Party (NPP) have been outlining their promises for the tourism, arts, and culture sectors.
These commitments come in response to advocacy from various media outlets and stakeholders within the industry.
Joy FM has compiled a list of promises made by both parties from 2012 to 2024, shedding light on their respective plans for the creative economy.
This initiative is in preparation for Joy FM’s Manifesto Debate on Creative Economy scheduled for September 7, 2024. The debate will be broadcast live on Joy FM and Joy Prime on September 14, 2024, from 2 PM to 6 PM.
Representing the NDC in the debate will be Sadiq Abdullai Abu, NDC Parliamentary Candidate for Okaikoi Central Constituency, and Rex Owusu Marfo, a member of the NDC Manifesto Committee.
On the NPP side, the Deputy Minister of Tourism, Arts, and Culture, Mark Okraku-Mantey, and the Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana Tourism Authority (GTA), Akwasi Agyeman, will present their party’s creative arts promises.
The NPP’s creative arts promises over the years, including those made in 2012, 2016, 2020, and 2024, have been highlighted.
