Ghanaian comedian DKB recently revealed that he had reservations about performing at the National Democratic Congress (NDC) Youth Manifesto soiree. Despite his initial hesitation, he eventually took the stage at the event held on August 12, 2024, at the Bukom Boxing Arena.

In an interview on Joy FM’s Cosmopolitan Mix, DKB shared his concerns about appearing on a political platform. He said, “I nearly turned down the NDC gig at Bukom Arena. I was booked to perform, and I told them it’s a political platform. They reassured me that I should just come and entertain the people without getting involved in politics.”

To his surprise, former President John Mahama, who was present at the event, appreciated DKB’s performance and even repeated two of his jokes on stage. This unexpected endorsement left DKB feeling honored and touched, leading him to declare himself a “presidential comedian.”

In light of Mahama’s support, DKB pledged to campaign for the former president in the upcoming election. He emphasized that his decision to endorse Mahama does not mean he harbors any ill will towards the New Patriotic Party (NPP).

DKB is not the only creative arts personality endorsing the NDC for the election. Other celebrities such as Big Akwes, Christiana Awuni, Mercy Asiedu, Jack Alolome, and Kofi Okyere Darko have also publicly shown their support for the party.
