Police in Ghana are currently conducting a homicide investigation in connection to the disappearance of 37-year-old Rachel Morin.
Rachel Morin’s boyfriend, Richard Tobin, took to social media to ask for privacy as he grieves alongside her family. However, he has remained silent regarding the arrest made in June 2024 in connection to Morin’s murder.
Rachel Morin, a mother of five from Bel Air, Maryland, went missing on August 5, 2023. Her body was discovered just a day later near the trail where she was last seen. The investigation into her disappearance is currently being treated as a homicide.
Authorities were alerted to a female body near the trail by a concerned citizen. Harford County Sheriff Jeff Gahler stated that while the medical examiner had not yet confirmed the identity of the remains, investigators firmly believe they belong to Rachel Morin.
Rachel Morin started dating Richard Tobin on August 1, 2023, just days before her tragic murder on a hiking trail near her home. Tobin, who enjoys fitness, has largely remained out of the public eye. While he has had past run-ins with the law, he was not identified as a suspect in Morin’s case.
After months of waiting, law enforcement in the United States finally made an arrest in Rachel Morin’s case. Victor Antonio Martinez-Hernandez, a 23-year-old illegal migrant from El Salvador, was charged with first-degree murder and first-degree rape. Authorities suspect that he may have been involved in other violent crimes prior to Morin’s murder.
As the investigation into Rachel Morin’s homicide continues, her family expressed their gratitude towards law enforcement for their dedication and hard work.
Rachel’s mother, Patricia Morin, thanked authorities for their efforts and expressed hope that her daughter’s killer would be brought to justice.
