The tragic murder of retired FBI agent Scott Horn has resurfaced in a recent episode of Dateline, shedding light on the unsolved case.
Scott was a dedicated special agent for the bureau for 23 years before his life was brutally taken at the age of 62.
Scott Horn, a father of two, had a son named Riley and a daughter named Kelly with his wife, Anne Reed Allen.
His lifeless body was discovered outside of their Laurel, Maryland home by his son on March 16, 2017. The investigation revealed that he had been severely beaten and shot in the neck, ultimately succumbing to his injuries.
Authorities charged Anne Reed Allen with first and second-degree murder, conspiracy to commit murder, and use of a handgun in the commission of a crime in connection to Scott’s death.
Prosecutors alleged that she had motives related to life insurance payouts and profit from rental properties owned by Scott.
After spending 18 months in custody awaiting trial, Anne Reed Allen was acquitted of all charges by a Prince George’s County jury in November 2018. However, on the same day of her acquittal,
she was hit with new charges of attempting to influence state witnesses and obstruction of justice.
Anne Reed Allen, a former nurse at Walter Reed Army Medical Center, now faces potential 20-year prison sentences for each count of influencing witnesses, along with an additional five years and a $10,000 fine for obstruction of justice.
