A chilling tale of fear, violence, and justice unfolded in the Arlington apartment complexes in Texas as police hunted for the elusive Arlington Bathtub Killer.

Two women were found strangled to death in their bathtubs, sparking mass fear among residents and a desperate search for the perpetrator.

The man behind the brutal killings was identified as Dale Devon Scheanette, a former bouncer at a local nightclub.

Between December 1996 and October 1999, Scheanette carried out a string of sexual assaults and murders, leaving a trail of terror in his wake.

Despite DNA evidence at the crime scenes, Scheanette remained free until his arrest in Dallas for criminal mischief in May 1999.

It wasn’t until 2000 that Scheanette’s prints matched the evidence, leading to his arrest for the murders of Christine Vu and Wendie Prescott.

Both victims were brutally assaulted, strangled, and left in their bathtubs in a horrific manner that shocked the community.

Wendie Prescott, a beloved teacher’s aide, had lost her mother to an unsolved murder years earlier, adding a tragic layer to her own untimely death.

After a long legal battle, Scheanette was convicted and sentenced to death. On February 10, 2009, justice was served as Scheanette was executed by lethal injection in Huntsville, Texas.

For one of his surviving victims, Adriane Fields, his death marked a moment of closure and healing.

The legacy of the Arlington Bathtub Killer lives on as a reminder of the horrors that can lurk within a community.

The victims, their families, and the witnesses who saw Scheanette brought to justice will never forget the darkness he brought into their lives.
