Renowned rapper and hip-hop artist Guru, also known as Maradona Yeboah Adjei, has recently gained the support of students with disabilities at the University of Ghana in his bid for the presidency of the Students Representative Council (SRC).
The CEO of NKZ Music is currently studying Political Science and Information Studies at the prestigious university.
Guru, who rose to fame in 2011 with his hit song ‘Lapaz Toyota,’ announced his intention to run for president in the upcoming SRC elections for the 2024/2025 academic year. During a campaign meeting with physically challenged students, Guru promised to prioritize the needs and rights of students with disabilities on campus.
His campaign focuses on creating an inclusive environment where all students, regardless of ability, feel supported and empowered to excel academically and socially. Guru has pledged to establish Legon Television, acquire more buses for the university, and enhance the school’s recreational facilities if elected as SRC president.
In a heartwarming gesture, Guru shared food with the students and made a donation of an undisclosed amount to some of them.
His compassionate actions have resonated with the student community and have garnered further support for his campaign.
