Ken Fiati, the spokesperson for the Ghana Actors Guild, emphasized the importance of using film as a powerful tool to influence people’s ideas and perspectives.
Speaking on Joy FM’s CREATIVE INDUSTRY MANIFESTO series on Showbiz A-Z, Fiati called for the production of socially relevant documentaries, educational films, and public service announcements to promote positive behavioral change and collective action.
He highlighted the effectiveness of using film for public education on national projects, citing examples of how information services departments used to screen videos in communities to disseminate information.
Fiati suggested that if the government had utilized film to raise awareness about the implementation of the e-levy, the process would have been smoother.
In addition to advocating for the construction of film villages, studios, and other necessary facilities, Fiati proposed the promotion of indigenous narratives, preservation of cultural heritage, regulation of investment, infrastructure development, and proper training of local talents in the film industry.
