Ghanaian reggae sensation, Rocky Dawuni, has advised music artists to focus on collaborating and harmony with each other rather than exchanging foul words on social media.
Expressing his view in an interview on TV3, he emphasized on the influential role music plays in the lives and minds of the people which is very significant. Therefore fighting and insulting each other, especially on social media adds no value to the core mandate of music.
He further said, that using art as a tool of division is a total deviation from its mandate and undermines its tenacity.
“I don’t believe that artists should focus on attacking each other. Artists should rather learn to work with each other, that’s how you build a solid peace-driven environment. Any kind of toxic environment feeds negativity. We are projecting our part to young people. We are projecting our arts to leaders of tomorrow. So if we make that art as a means of division, then we lose the point of higher it is”, Rocky said.
The award-winning reggae icon further elaborated on the importance of creating a peaceful environment within the art industry which in turn generates a positive impact on Ghanaians.
“There have to be certain people who say their art is about positivity. It`s about uniting people it`s about bringing our people together. It`s about the primary objective of uplifting all Ghanaians. People might have their own methodology, and their own aspects but as for me I always promote harmony and peace”. Rocky Dawuni said.
