Russ Cook, the Hardest Geezer, has made history by becoming the first person ever to run the entire length of Africa.
After a remarkable 352 days, his journey began in Cape Agulhas, South Africa, and ended in Ras Angela, Tunisia. This incredible feat covered over 10,000 miles, making Russ Cook a true adventurer.
Born in 1997, Russ Cook, a native of Worthing in West Sussex, is not a stranger to challenging himself. He gained popularity as an extreme runner and a YouTube star, known for his Instagram handle @hardestgeezer, where he updates his fans on his daring challenges.
Before Project Africa, Russ had already achieved remarkable feats, such as running from Asia to London and completing 71 marathons in 66 days across 11 countries. His nickname, the Hardest Geezer, is well-deserved, considering his exploits of running marathons on crutches and while drinking a beer after each mile.
During Project Africa, Russ raised funds for charity, benefiting organizations like The Running Charity, Sandblast, and Water Aid. His determination to make a difference saw him conquer the challenging terrains of Africa, from jungles to deserts, and push his limits beyond imagination.
Despite facing adversities like being kidnapped and robbed at gunpoint, Russ continued his run, guided by his relentless spirit and dedication to completing his mission. As he crossed the finish line in Bizerte, Tunisia, Russ was welcomed by a cheering crowd, marking the end of his epic journey.
With over £765,000 raised for charity, Russ Cook’s legacy goes beyond running. He has inspired many to pursue their dreams and make a positive impact in the world.
