Head of Public Events and Communications for the Telecel Ghana Music Awards, Robert Klah, has urged Ghanaian singer and songwriter Sista Afia to communicate any concerns she may have about her absence from the 2024 nominee list directly with the organization.

The nominee list for the 2024 Telecel Ghana Music Awards was recently unveiled on March 28, 2024. Following the announcement, Sista Afia took to Twitter to express her disappointment, alleging unfair treatment by the scheme. She specifically pointed out her hit song “Asuoden” from 2021 not receiving any nominations in the previous edition.

In her social media posts, Sista Afia raised questions about whether she had offended someone within the scheme and also raised suspicions about certain artists receiving nominations without officially applying.

In response to Sista Afia’s concerns, Robert Klah appeared on Hitz FM on April 2, 2024, to address the issues. He emphasized that all nomination processes were conducted fairly by the organizers and clarified that Sista Afia had not offended anyone within the scheme.

Klah went on to explain that there is a dedicated research team responsible for merit-based nominations, and artists are always contacted beforehand to ensure transparency in the selection process. He encouraged all artists with concerns about their nominations to reach out to the Telecel Ghana Music Awards for clarification.

The 2024 Telecel Ghana Music Awards, marking its 25th anniversary, is set to take place on June 1st. Leading the nominations this year is Stonebwoy with fifteen nods, followed by Kuami Eugene with fourteen, and Sarkodie with eight. Last year’s standout artist, Black Sherif, received six nominations for this year’s event.
