This change began to be noticed by iPhone users several months ago, with some reporting the switch from blue to green icons. However, more users seem to have experienced this change recently.
On Reddit, users expressed their confusion and distaste for the new green colour that started appearing on their WhatsApp. Some users described the shade as “ugly” and questioned the reason behind this sudden change.
Complaints started pouring in on social media platforms like X (formerly Twitter) as users shared their frustration with the unexpected colour change in their favorite messaging app.
“Um excuse me why is WhatsApp green,” asked one X user in a tweet that quickly gained viral attention.
Another X user commented: “Oh good I thought I was going crazy.
“I don’t like it, it’s making me feel like I can’t focus.”

The reason behind why the colour swap is only visible to certain WhatsApp users remains unclear.
Some speculate that Meta, the parent company of WhatsApp, may be working on a new app design in the background. However, Meta chose not to provide any comments when approached by The Sun.
