Atlantic Lithium Limited has announced its commitment to responsible and sustainable mining practices as it prepares for Ghana’s first lithium production at Ewoyaa in the Central Region.
The Australia-based company obtained a 15-year mining lease from the Ghanaian government in October last year, after meeting all the necessary requirements.
In an effort to enhance the resource, Atlantic Lithium has expanded its drilling program at the Ewoyaa lithium project site by 8,000 meters (43%). The ongoing drilling program is expected to reach 26,500 meters upon completion in the second quarter of 2024.
During a public hearing on the Lithium Mining Scoping Report at Ewoyaa by the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), Aaron Maurer, Head of Operations at Atlantic Lithium, assured local residents of the significant economic benefits the project will bring to the area.
Maurer emphasized the company’s commitment to conducting sustainable and responsible mining by using environmentally friendly technologies and approaches to ensure the maximum protection of the ecosystem.
The Ewoyaa Lithium Project will use open-pit methods involving drill, blast, load, and haul operations to mine spodumene pegmatite deposits.
With the expansion of the drilling program and the company’s focus on sustainable and responsible mining, Atlantic Lithium is poised to make a positive impact on the local community and the environment as Ghana’s first lithium production at Ewoyaa approaches.
