Amoako Baah suggests an NPP elder should have appeared before Kumasi Traditional Council, not the general secretary

Dr Richard Amoako Baah, a former head of the Political Science Department at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), has criticized the New Patriotic Party (NPP) leadership for not controlling its members.

This comes after the Ashanti Regional Chairman of the NPP, Bernard Antwi Boasiako also known as Chairman Wontumi, made derogatory statements about the Asantehene.

Following this, the Kumasi Traditional Council summoned the Regional chairman to appear at the Manhyia Palace.

Chairman Wontumi did not attend the summon and instead, an NPP delegation led by the General Secretary, Justin Kodua Frimpong, appealed to the traditional council to request an extension on the basis that the Regional Chairman was ill.

Dr Amaoko Baah believes the delegation should have been led by a party elder instead of Mr Kodua Frimpong.

Speaking on Joy FM’s Top Story, Dr Amoako Baah explained that traditionally, when an individual seeks forgiveness from someone they have offended, it is always advisable for them to do so with an elder and never a colleague.

He expressed his disappointment, stating that the party is now led by individuals who do as they please and that the National Council should have called Wontumi to order.

He further criticized the party, claiming that “rascals” have taken over and are messing it up by not holding Chairman Wontumi accountable for his behavior.
