After losing first 2 matches against USA and Colombia, victory over African giants can still guarantee passage to knockout phase.
Playing mostly in 4-4-1-1 formation, the Indian team maintained its shape very well throughout the match against Colombia and the little gap between the two defensive lines of back four and midfield four did not give much space to the rival attackers.
De Matos is likely to continue with the same strategy against Ghana tomorrow. If India can go to the breather goal- less just like they did against the Colombians, it will be interesting to see whether he will think of opening up the game and press for goals.
Goalkepeer Dheeraj Singh has been one of the two best performers for India and he is likely to continue at that position.
Hailing from Manipur but fluent in Punjabi, Jeakson Singh created history when he scored India’s first goal in the FIFA Under-17 World Cup…
Jeakson Singh Thaunaojam might well have written his name into Indian football folklore when he scored the country’s first ever World Cup goal across all age groups on Monday.
He rose highest to thump in a header from Sanjeev Stalin’s cross in the 82nd minute of the group game against Colombia to record an equaliser. Though India lost the game 1-2, the goal will be cherished by the Indian footballing fraternity for years to come.
Here is a video of their training and interview with Jeakson after he created history by scoring the first goal by an Indian in a FIFA tournament.
