GHANA’S POROUS BORDERS – OCT, 2013

The Customs Division of the Ghana Revenue Authority has admitted its inability to prevent some substandard and unapproved drugs from entering into the country.
According to the Chief Revenue Officer of the Ghana Revenue Authority, Robert Nana Mensah, the porous nature of Ghana’s borders makes it impossible to ensure no substandard drugs and medicines enter the country.
Drug Smuggling is not exclusive to Ghana, all over the world, countries have admitted their challenge with dealing with this menace to society.
However much more is needed to be done by government and stakeholders to help curb this menace.
Also, the issue of drug trafficking should not be exclusive to the Ghana Government but to individuals and the general public.
