Ghana’s coffin art lets people bury their loved ones in style

Customized coffins have become very popular in Ghana’s capital, Accra. In the past, these coffins were prominent in rural communities in Accra with traditional beliefs but have now become an integral part of local funeral culture.
This customized coffin making started among the Ga people, an ethnic group in Ghana, to celebrate a particular profession to which a deceased person belonged before he died.
The coffin design reflects the personality, career, aspirations or achievements of the deceased.
