My first big pay in a movie turned out to be a bounced cheque- McBrown

Multi-talented Ghanaian actress, Nana Ama McBrown has revealed that her breakthrough in the Ghanaian movie industry came in the 2007 when she received her first big pay for her role in a movie.

“That was the first time I received something big. It was a cheque of GH¢500 and you can imagine how happy I was to have been paid such an amount”, she revealed.

The actress said her happiness was short-lived when it turned out that the cheque could not go through because the producer was aware he had insufficient funds in the account.

“The day I received the cheque, I was jittery for the stated day to go clear it. On that day I dressed up early for the Adum and presented it at the counter and was asked to wait. The waiting period arose my suspicion and later was told to send back the cheque to the issuer because he had no funds in the account. I did and it would shock you he took it and gave me GH¢70”,she said.

According to her, these were but the few of the challenges she encountered on her journey to the fame she is presently enjoying indicating that they did not deter her from pursuing a career she has chosen after quitting professional football.
