Stop washing our dirty linens in public – Avedzi to NDC – Starr Fm

The deputy Minority leader James Kluste Avedzi has weighed in on the wrangling within the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), calling for a cease fire.

Speaking in the wake of attacks on former President JJ Rawlings and Martin Amidu by former Deputy Chief of Staff Dr. Valerie Sawyerr, he said the attacks and counter attacks are unnecessary.

“Issues of [these] nature should be handled within the structure of the party,” he said in an interview with Accra-based Joy FM Wednesday, adding “There is a saying that you don’t wash your dirty linens in public.”

According to him, the minority in parliament are concerned about recent developments in the party and the urge to go “public to address our internal conflicts or internal problems publicly.”

The seeming deepening of the cracks within the NDC was triggered by a strongly worded letter addressed to the NDC founder by the media-shy politician, Dr. Sawyerr accusing him and Mr. Amidu of hypocrisy in their consistent attacks on the NDC and former president Mahama.

In his reaction, however, Mr. Amidu described the letter addressed to former President JJ Rawlings by Valerie Sawyerr as lying, incoherent, disjointed and drunken-like diatribes.
