Former Member of Parliament for Lower Manya Krobo Michael Teye Nyaunu has lashed out at Valerie Sawyerr for criticizing Martin Amidu for “unnecessarily attacking” the NDC and former President Mahama.
Mr. Amidu, a former Attorney General and Minister of Justice in a recent write-up blamed the Mahama-led government for the chaos at the Electoral Commission. He also claimed that the EC chairperson Charlotte Osei was appointed to help the NDC rig the 2016 elections.
But in a heavily worded response, Mrs. Sawyerr, a former deputy Chief of Staff in the erstwhile Mahama administration asked Mr. Amidu to “cut the crap”, challenging him to resign from the NDC since he no longer promotes the cause of the party.
She added that Mr. Amidu’s “pomposity, over-bloated ego” would finally destroy him for good.
Commenting on the development however, Mr. Nyaunu expressed disappointment in Mrs. Sawyerr’s berating of the former Attorney General.
Speaking on Morning Starr Wednesday August 9, 2017, he said, “I am disappointed about what she has said in the sense that Martin Amidu is one of the senior members of the party and he is once the Attorney General and he was speaking his mind.”
“For me, there is no need to try to stop people from speaking their minds in this our current democratic dispensation. If we don’t allow people to speak their minds things won’t go well. So I rather got disappointed when she attacked Martin Amidu like that,” he added.
