A remembrance ceremony is expected to be held today, July 24,  in Accra to mark the fifth anniversary of the passing of former President John Evans Atta Mills.

Prof. Mills passed away on July 24, 2012, at the 37 Military Hospital in Accra where he had been rushed to for treatment.

He was laid to rest on August 10 of that year at the Geese Park, now known as Asomdwee Park, close to the Osu-Castle in Accra. He was 68.

According to Deputy general secretary of the NDC and former spokesperson to the late President, Koku Anyidoho, today’s remembrance ceremony at the Asomdwee Park will be followed by a gathering of the saints.

“a fifth anniversary is a milestone event, there will be a gathering at the Asomdwee Park where he was buried, followed by a wreath laying ceremony and then we will gather at the Osu Kuuku hill office which used to be President Mills’ campaign office when he was opposition leader”.
