The Gender ministry has assured worried school feeding caterers that all their outstanding payments will be settled by July this year.
The assurance comes after the caterers stormed the premises of the ministry in Accra Monday over their unpaid arrears.
In a statement, the Gender Minister, Otiko Djaba apologized to the caterers and said the payments will be done before the existing contracts with them expire in July.
“…All arrears will be paid before then. There is the need for us to adhere to the strict governance process for the arrears to be paid and in spite of the competing demands for public funds, the Ministry of Finance has processed the release of the arrears for 2016 and for 2017.
“As a result, we implore all partners and stakeholders of the Ghana School Feeding Programme to effectively expedite action to improve on the caterer payment situation,” she said.
