Three persons including a child have lost their lives in a fatal road crash at Kawanpe, a community near Kintampo in the Kintampo North District of the Brong Ahafo region.
The accident involved a fully loaded Neoplan bus popularly known as ‘Awudu Issahaka’ from Kumasi to Garu in the Upper East region. Eyewitnesses said it somersaulted and fell on its side.
It took the intervention of the Kintampo National Fire Service and a police patrol team to rescue the victims from the accident scene.
Currently 35 passengers including children are injured and being treated at the Kintampo Municipal Hospital.
An official of the hospital, Dr. Owusu Amoako, told Starr News that six of the victims whose conditions are critical have been referred to the Techiman Holy Family Hospital and Komfo Anokye Hospital in Kumasi.
