The President of the Ghana Football Association (GFA), Kurt Okraku, has expressed the association’s willingness to engage with the ideas of Ghanaians as they work to reform the country’s football.

Ghana’s football has faced significant challenges in recent years, with the national team, the Black Stars, struggling to perform at the expected level.

The most recent blow came during the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations tournament, where Ghana failed to secure a single group-stage victory and was eliminated from the competition.

Addressing the media in Kumasi on Wednesday, February 7, GFA chief Kurt Okraku urged Ghanaians to support the association during these difficult times.

“We need the collective effort of everyone. As leaders of the association, we take responsibility but also rely on the collective ideas of others to continue developing the sport.

“The FA is fully committed to restoring the lost glory and enthusiasm of our people. All our stakeholders must stand together with us through thick and thin, and we are ready to listen to other perspectives. We need to allow people to voice their opinions and share their thoughts,” Kurt Okraku emphasized.

Meanwhile, the committee appointed to select a new head coach for the Black Stars is currently in the process of reviewing the over 500 applications received for the position.

The screening process is expected to be completed next week.
