The Minister of Hydrocarbons of the Republic of Congo, Bruno Jean-Richard Itoua, is set to speak at the Invest in African Energy (IAE) forum in Paris on May 14-15. This is a clear indication of the country’s interest in engaging with foreign partners.

The Republic of Congo aims to double its hydrocarbon output to 500,000 barrels per day (bpd) and has a strong focus on new exploration and development programs. The country is also eagerly awaiting the first cargo from Congo LNG – the country’s first natural gas liquefaction project – led by Italian multinational Eni. This project involves the installation of two FLNG plants at the Marine XII concession and is expected to position the Congo as a top LNG exporter.

At the IAE forum, Minister Itoua is expected to share insight into the country’s upstream and gas monetization agenda and also highlight the opportunities for foreign investors to contribute to these projects.

The Republic of Congo has seen increased exploration activities by international operators, with significant discoveries being made. The country is attracting interest in both on- and offshore exploration activities, with companies like Perenco, Eni, and TotalEnergies all actively involved in projects in the region.

The IAE forum is designed to facilitate investment between African energy markets and global investors. The participation of a Congolese delegation, led by Minister Itoua, at the upcoming forum demonstrates the country’s commitment to showcasing exclusive energy and infrastructure projects from the Congo.

As the Republic of Congo looks to position itself as an attractive destination for global investors, the IAE forum provides a valuable platform for collaboration and investment in the country’s energy sector.
