The National Sports Authority (NSA) has responded to recent criticism by reiterating its commitment to promoting sports development at the grassroots and ensuring that stadiums are ready for competitions.

This comes after the NSA faced scrutiny during a session with the Public Accounts Committee (PAC), where Director-General Professor Peter Twumasi was questioned about reported administrative irregularities.

In a statement released by the NSA’s Public Relations Department, the authority affirmed its dedication to fulfilling its mission despite financial constraints. The statement also addressed allegations of interactions between the NSA Director-General and Minister of Youth and Sports, Mustapha Ussif, as well as financial management practices.

The Public Accounts Committee issued a directive for the arrest of the NSA Northern Region Director for failing to deposit 160,000 Ghana cedis into the designated Consolidated Trust Fund account.

The official release emphasized that no infractions were found against the Head Office of NSA in the 2022 Auditor General’s Report discussed at the recent PAC meeting.

The NSA is committed to addressing the concerns raised and continuing its efforts to support sports development in Ghana.
