A 26-year-old nurse in Pramso, a suburb of Sweduru in the Bosomtwe District of the Ashanti region, is fighting for her life after being stabbed multiple times by her ex-boyfriend. Comfort Oppong received knife wounds in the abdomen, lower and upper parts of the arms, resulting in heavy loss of blood.

Her attacker, Kwasi Asuman, also attempted to take his own life after the incident and is currently in critical condition at the Emergency Center of the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital.

The altercation began when Comfort refused to allow her ex-boyfriend to spend the night at her place. Asuman had returned under the guise of visiting their one-and-a-half year-old child and demanded to spend the night with her, but she turned down the request.

A small argument quickly escalated when Asuman stabbed Comfort seven times with a kitchen knife, leaving her with multiple wounds. She was rescued by neighbors and taken to the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital for medical attention.

Comfort’s father, Vincent Kofi Frimpong, recounted that his daughter gave Asuman the phone and minutes later, he could hear his daughter screaming. Both Comfort and Asuman are currently admitted at the same facility, although Comfort has been discharged. All efforts to reach the medical staff at KATH for comments on the incident proved futile.
