Morocco retains Walid Regragui as head coach of Atlas Lions despite Afcon 2023 failure

The future of Walid Regragui as the coach of the Moroccan national football team, the Atlas Lions, has surprised many with the decision by the Royal Moroccan Football Federation (FRMF) to stand by him despite the team’s early exit in the round of 16 of the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations.

In an official press release, the FRMF declared their decision to retain Regragui as the head coach and to provide him with all the necessary support to achieve success in the national team’s next assignment.

Despite Morocco’s early exit from the tournament, where they were beaten 2-0 by South Africa in the round of 16, the FRMF expressed confidence in Regragui’s ability to lead the team in the future competitions.
