Renowned coach Kwesi Appiah, known for his successful stints managing Ghana’s national football team, has opened up about the unique challenge of juggling his roles as a member of the Ghana Football Association’s (FA) Executive Council and his recent appointment as head coach of the Sudanese national team.

Appiah, who took over the reins of the Sudanese squad in October 2023, emphasized that despite the differences in responsibilities, the two roles are interconnected through the exchange of ideas.

With two matches under his belt with the Sudan team, including a 1-1 draw with Togo and a 1-0 victory over DR Congo, Appiah expressed his approach to coaching, stating, “I am the coach of the Sudan national team. I don’t play the football. I share my ideas and what I have in my mind. In the Ghana Exco, we share ideas a lot and ensure we put together strategic plans that will thrive our game.”

Reflecting on his dual roles, Appiah emphasized that there is no conflict between the two positions, saying, “We want to pull a very good team. The two jobs are exclusive of each other and so there is no issue at all!! I am in Sudan but I am not there to play.”
