After Southampton’s 3-0 loss to Liverpool in the fifth round of the FA Cup, manager Russell Martin spoke highly of Ghanaian winger Kamaldeen Sulemana’s potential to make a big impact for the team.
Discussing Sulemana’s missed chances in front of goal during the Liverpool game, Martin touched on the winger’s injury struggles, which have affected his career since his time at Stade Rennes.
“It’s crucial for him to stay fit so he can reach his full potential. He’s a young player who is constantly learning and will play a key role for us. He might feel frustrated with the injuries he’s had, interrupting his progress,” Martin told Daily Echo.
Despite his promise, Sulemana is yet to find the back of the net for Southampton this season due to his ongoing battles with injuries.
His absence from the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations for Ghana highlights the importance of maintaining fitness for both club and country.
