Jonathan Majors, the actor who was convicted last year of assaulting and harassing his ex-girlfriend, Grace Jabbari, has been sentenced to undergo one year of domestic violence counselling. The sentence was delivered by Judge Michael Gaffey in a lower Manhattan courtroom.

Majors must complete a 52-week in-person domestic violence program in Los Angeles, where he currently resides. The sessions may have an opportunity in the future to be partly virtual. Additionally, he is required to continue the mental health therapy he has been enrolled in and provide updates on his progress.

During the trial, Jabbari delivered a victim impact statement, stating that Majors “is not sorry and has not accepted responsibility” for the assault. She expressed concerns that he may harm another woman in the future, describing him as a man who believes he is above the law.

Despite the guilty verdict, Judge Gaffey decided not to give Majors jail time due to his absence of criminal history and prior arrests. However, a permanent order of protection against any contact between Jabbari and Majors was put in place. Any violations or criminal activity could result in him facing imprisonment.

Following the assault, Majors was fired from Disney’s Marvel Cinematic Universe, where he played the role of Kang the Conqueror. His Hollywood career seems to be in limbo as he was dropped by his management company and publicity firm. Despite these setbacks, Majors remains “optimistic” that he will work in the film industry again “soon.”

Jabbari has also sued Majors for assault and defamation, stemming from his statements during an interview on “Good Morning America.” The lawsuit alleges that Majors assaulted her on multiple occasions prior to the March 2023 altercation. Text messages between the two were revealed during the trial, showing a pattern of disturbing behavior on Majors’ part.
