Gospel music losing spirituality; Empress Gifty and others are now carnal – Apostle Lenny Akpadie

The gospel music industry in Ghana is facing a crisis as it is becoming more focused on self-promotion rather than spreading the message of Christ.

Apostle Lenny Akpadie, a veteran gospel musician, expressed his concerns in an interview on Joy Prime’s Prime Morning with Roselyn Felli.

According to Apostle Lenny Akpadie, some Ghanaian gospel musicians are deviating from the true purpose of gospel music and are instead prioritizing their own image and fame. He pointed out that the industry is being “carnalized” by the dressing and appearance of some gospel artistes, leading people astray from the core message of the gospel.

Apostle Lenny Akpadie specifically mentioned artists like Piesie Esther, who he claims shows cleavage in pictures, and Empress Gifty, who he believes focuses more on self-promotion than the work of God. He emphasized the importance of staying true to the spiritual message and mission of gospel music, rather than getting caught up in worldly desires for fame and recognition.

While acknowledging the importance of promoting events and music, Apostle Lenny Akpadie stressed that the primary focus should always be on preaching the Christ and spreading the message of encountering the Holy Spirit. He urged gospel musicians to remember the spiritual significance of their work and not lose sight of their calling.

Apostle Lenny Akpadie, who was active in the gospel music industry in the 90s, lamented the shift towards a more secular and self-centered approach in the industry.
