From Accra-Ghana to the wiase – Jonathan Mensah reacts after being unveiled as New England Revolution player

Former Black Stars defender Jonathan Mensah has officially signed with the New England Revolution ahead of the upcoming MLS season.

After leaving San Jose Earthquake at the end of last season, Mensah joined the Revolution as a free agent, and is expected to play a significant role in the team’s defense.

With seven seasons of experience in the MLS, the 33-year-old Ghanaian brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise to the Revolution.

He has signed a one-year contract for the 2024 MLS season, with an additional one-year option for 2025.

Mensah expressed his gratitude and excitement for the upcoming season, writing on X, formerly known as Twitter, “From Accra-Ghana to the wiase, Thank You God For Everything. Almost go time again. #GodIsGreat #GodIsTheReason #Revs #BringTheFight”.

Having previously played for Columbus Crew and San Jose Earthquake, Mensah has already made his mark in the MLS, helping the Columbus Crew clinch the MLS title and earning MLS Best XI recognition.

He was also named the Crew’s defender of the Year three consecutive times from 2018-2020, demonstrating his outstanding defensive abilities.

Following his departure from Columbus Crew before the start of the 2023 campaign, Mensah played 26 games for San Jose Earthquake, with 21 starts, helping the team reach the postseason.

Now, Mensah is ready to bring his skill and dedication to the New England Revolution as they gear up for the upcoming season.
