Event companies are folding up due to lack of corporate support – Ashis

Artiste Manager and Entertainment Pundit, Nana Poku Ashis, is calling on corporate bodies to provide support to event companies as many are struggling to stay afloat due to a lack of sponsorship. In a recent interview with Graphic Showbiz, Ashis, who manages Highlife act, Kwabena Kwabena, highlighted the financial challenges faced by event organisers and creatives in funding their projects.

According to Ashis, event organisers and individual musicians who fund their shows are not financially equipped to handle the substantial budgets required. He emphasized that most musicians who organized shows last December ended up making significant losses, despite their efforts.

Ashis revealed, “You put in so much for an event and you don’t break even. If not because of our fans, we wouldn’t have organized the Kwabena Kwabena and Becca Vals Day concert this year.” He expressed gratitude to the fans for their continued support but acknowledged the struggles faced by artists in organizing successful events.

The lack of sponsorship from companies, especially alcoholic beverage sponsors who were banned by the FDA from sponsoring events, has further exacerbated the financial challenges for event organizers. Ashis stressed the importance of financial support from sponsors to ensure the survival of the industry.

He urged the government to step in and support the creative sector during these difficult times. Ashis emphasized the need for collaboration between stakeholders to ensure the sustainability of the entertainment industry in Ghana.

The plea from Nana Poku Ashis sheds light on the critical need for corporate support in the entertainment sector to enable event companies and creatives to thrive and continue providing quality entertainment to the public.
