Duolingo users baffled as app icon is changed to look ‘depressing’ with sad owl

Language learners using the popular app Duolingo have been left puzzled by a surprising change in the app’s iconic green owl.

Users have noticed that the once cheerful owl now appears “miserable” and haggard, leading to confusion and dissatisfaction among the app’s fans.

Many users have taken to social media platforms like Reddit to express their disappointment with the new look of the Duolingo owl.

One user wrote, “This does not motivate me,” while another complained that the depressing icon makes them want to uninstall the app.

Despite the backlash from users, Duolingo has not explained the sudden change in the owl’s appearance.

The company did post a cryptic meme on Twitter, hinting at the owl’s tired state. Some speculate that the transformation may be a strategic move to grab users’ attention and encourage them to open the app.

This is not the first time Duolingo has surprised users with a quirky change in the app’s icon. In the past, the owl was depicted with a melted face, causing a similar stir among users.

Unfortunately, completing lessons on Duolingo does not revert the app’s icon to its original cheerful look. It seems that users with a streak still see the fiery orange icon as usual. However, it is likely that the sad owl is a temporary feature designed to capture users’ attention and will eventually return to its previous appearance.
