The funeral rites of the late Black Stars striker Raphael Dwamena have been marred by family clashes, leading to disruption of the proceedings.

The funeral service, which is currently ongoing at the Adjiriganor Astro Turf in Accra, has been affected by a confrontation between Dwamena’s paternal and maternal families.

The situation has caused tension and uncertainty among mourners, with an impasse occurring at Transitions Funeral Homes where the body was kept. Mediators are now intervening to facilitate a peaceful resolution between the two sides.

Dwamena tragically passed away on Saturday, November 11, 2023, after collapsing on the football pitch while playing for KF Egnatia against KF Partizani in the Albanian top-flight.

Despite receiving immediate medical attention, he unfortunately succumbed to the collapse. The striker, who made 9 appearances for the Black Stars of Ghana since his debut in 2017, scored two goals during his international career.

Dwamena’s career faced adversity after he was first diagnosed with a heart problem in 2017. He had represented various clubs including FC Zurich, Levante, Real Zaragoza, and others.
