One hundred teams are set to compete for the top prize as they showcase their projects aimed at addressing societal challenges.

The Accra International Conference Centre will play host to over 3,000 guests for the highly anticipated GSTEP Exhibition and Awards Ceremony on January 24th and 25th, 2024.

The event will bring together students, educators, STEM enthusiasts, educational institution leaders, and key stakeholders from the public and private sectors to celebrate the innovative solutions developed by Ghana’s youth to tackle community problems.

100 finalists from the Greater Accra, Eastern, and Ashanti regions will showcase their unique products and solutions aimed at addressing local issues. These finalists, all junior high school students, have utilized Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) to develop their projects.

On January 25, 2024, the main hall of the Accra International Conference Centre will host a public-private partnership conference, bringing together key stakeholders in STEM, education, and both public and private sectors to discuss and share insights on the theme “Private and public partnerships forging the future of Ghana: STEM education as a stepping stone.”

The awards ceremony will take place at 2 p.m. at the Accra International Conference Centre to honor outstanding teams and individuals who have contributed to the success of the program. Special guests of honor will include Frema Opare, Chief of Staff, and Dr. Yaw Osei Adutwum. Dignitaries, traditional leaders, and renowned experts in the field of STEM are expected to grace the ceremony.

GSTEP Challenge aims to stimulate innovative thinking in young people to address community issues using STEM, while also providing support in developing prototypes and cultivating essential soft skills such as communication, critical thinking, and problem-solving.

The program is being implemented by a consortium led by the DreamOval Foundation in partnership with MEST Africa, Foundervine, Challenge Works, and DEXT Technology.
