A former Education Minister, Professor Christopher Ameyaw-Ekumfi, has been appointed chairman of the board for the Ghana Infrastructure Investment Fund (GIIF).
A letter from the presidency signed by the Chief of Staff, Akosua Frema Osei-Opare, said “pursuant to Section 8 of the Ghana Infrastructure Investment Fund Act , 2014 (Act 877), the President of the Republic hereby appoints you as the Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Ghana Infrastructure Investment Fund.”
The letter also congratulated Mr. Ameyaw-Ekumfi, who also once served as Minister for Ports and Railways.
The Fund is to mobilize, manage, coordinate and provide financial resources for investment in the diversified portfolio of infrastructure projects for national development.
The previous National Democratic Congress (NDC) government announced the creation of the fund during the presentation of the 2015 budget in Parliament.
